Get Help for Digestive Issues: Davie Chiropractor

Research shows that chiropractic can help patients who deal with digestive problems such as irritable bowel disease and Crohn’s. Here at Chiropractic Spinal Hygiene Center in Davie, Florida, we can help patients with digestive ailments.

A 2012 study published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicineevaluated the effect of spinal manipulation on 210 patients with IBS. Half the patients received spinal manipulations on five occasions. The other half were treated with the medication Dicetel (pinaverium bromide).

Among the patients treated through spinal manipulations, 92 cases had excellent results, 10 cases had good results, three cases had fair results, and zero cases had poor results. In the group receiving medication, 30 cases had excellent results, 41 cases had good results, 12 cases had fair results, and 22 cases had poor results.

The researchers concluded that displacement of intervertebral discs and/or vertebra in the thoracic or lumbar region (vertical subluxation) contributed to the symptoms of IBS. They further concluded that spinal manipulation “is an effective treatment for IBS.”

Fifty-seven patients participated in another study focusing on allergies and Crohn’s disease, published in theJournal of Vertebral Subluxation Research in 2002. In that study, 17 patients received both standard medical care and 12 weeks of chiropractic care. The remaining patients received only standard medical are.

Of the 17 patients who received spinal adjustments, 12 showed long-term remission of their symptoms, and nine experienced alleviation. The researchers concluded that “Chronic nerve compression secondary to vertebral subluxation in the thoracic and lumbar regions had a significant effect on the immune function of these allergy and Crohn’s disease patients.”

Chiropractic’s success in these cases is due to the fact that spinal misalignments or subluxations affect the nervous system’s ability to communicate with the organs, glands and tissues of the digestive system because of the pressure placed on the nerves and vessels around the spine. The result is similar to that of a hose with a kink in it: Water pressure is compromised, and so is the effectiveness of the hose.

Spinal manipulations can relieve the pressure, so the messages from the nervous system can get through to your digestive system.

While regular chiropractic care may help alleviate pain temporarily, Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) goes a step further, using corrective chiropractic treatments to return patients’ spines back to a normal curve and function.

Chiropractic BioPhysics is the most scientific, researched and results-oriented corrective chiropractic technique. Headed by Dr. Zev Mellman, Chiropractic Spinal Hygiene Center in Davie, Florida, is among only a handful of chiropractic centers specializing in CBP.
